Matthew M. Rundio

Matthew has been advocating for the rights of injured individuals against negligenct drivers, doctors, and corporations for over 25 years.  Mr. Rundio has successfully prosecuted injury and wrongful death claims arising from automobile crashes, trucking crashes, railroad grade crossing collisions, nursing home and medical negligence, and defective products that have resulted in tens of millions of dollars of recovery for his clients.  Mr. Rundio is honored and humbled by the confidence and trust his clients place in him to represent them in their fight for fair and just compensation for personal injuries or wrongful death.  Mr. Rundio recognizes the importance of developing a personal relationship with his clients which allows him to understand and appreciate the injuries and harms they suffered on a human level.  Mr. Rundio believes his aggressive representation gives his clients a strong voice against insurance companies that have unlimited financial, legal, and medical resources at their disposal to deny and delay compensating injury victims.  Mr. Rundio’s commitment to expending the necessary resources to put his clients on a level playing field with the insurance companies allows his clients to resolve their cases on their terms, not the insurance company’s terms.  

The legal system and process can be intimidating and confusing for clients.  Mr. Rundio believes an important aspect of his job as a trial attorney and counselor is to thoroughly explain the stages of the litigation process to his clients, so they have a better understanding of the legal system and progression of their case.  He also believes communication with his clients is extremely important and he makes himself available anytime, day, night, and on weekends, to advise and counsel his clients.  

Mr. Rundio conscientiously prepares each of case which allows him to achieve favorable outcomes for his clients.  Mr. Rundio has handled hundreds of personal injury cases from inception to successful resolution, by way of settlement, arbitration/mediation, and jury verdict.  He has tried numerous cases to jury verdict, both as first and second chair trial attorney.  Mr. Rundio has earned a reputation in the legal community of being prepared, hard-working, and collegial and kind to witnesses, opposing counsel, Judges, and court staff.  He is extremely knowledgeable regarding the law applicable to personal injury and wrongful death cases and knows the facts and details of each case he handles inside and out.    

Mr. Rundio has been an invited speaker at seminars sponsored by the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and Illinois State Bar Association to discuss many topics related to personal injury cases.  He was also invited to lecture at a large physical therapy corporation regarding personal injury cases.     

Mr. Rundio also gives back to his community by providing pro bono legal services to parishioners at Our Lady of Mercy Church on the north side of Chicago.  He provides these services through the St. Clement Legal Aid Society and Chicago Volunteer Legal Society, organizations he has been an active member of for more than 12 years.  During this time, he has represented numerous economically challenged individuals in legal matters on a pro bono basis.  Mr. Rundio was awarded the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Special Services Award in 2013 for his pro bono legal work.  Mr. Rundio has also volunteered at his alma mater law school, Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, where he participated in the 1L Mentoring program for first year law students and volunteered as a guest instructor for law school classes.      

Outside of work, Mr. Rundio enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing golf, skiing, and some recreational sports (he recently “retired” from men’s league softball after a shoulder injury that capped a mediocre career as the team’s designated “catcher”).
